Happy New Year!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Well, I won't bore you with reviews of the year etc. It's lazy blogging and lazy journalism for that matter. Since about the start of November all there seemed to be in the papers were which books/music/films/other cultural forms you should have consumed in the previous twelves months, instead of reviews of current stuff. I gave up reading a paper for a week from Xmas Eve onwards because I was sick to the back teeth of reviews/quizzes/unfunny satires of the news in 2006 and "20 things you never knew about Christmas".

I sound like bloody Scrooge don't I? I had a decent Yule, except I think I caught a chill (possibly on the arduously long trip from London to my parents' place in Lichfield- but I won't bore you with the details) and I had metabolism issues as a consequence(which, as you may be eating as you read this, I definitely won't go into the details about). Only today do I feel much better in myself. This year I'm staying in, as it is tipping down outside, and it seems drinking establishments have got into their head to rip off the public even more than usual. For example, one of the pubs five mins walk from here, decent boozer as it is, is charging £15 just to enter. No free drinks, no food- £15 just to go in! I have plenty of beer in and I have total control over the music played in my presence and I can go to bed when I want (and sausage sandwiches with a Galaxy chocolate bar to follow) so sod it. After all, it's only a glorified Sunday night ie you can get served after 10.30pm isn't it?

Anyway, I'll leave it there. More stuff will appear here in 2007, though I'm not sure about when and what it will be. Just going to leave you, following news that his erstwhile mate Saddam has been strung up, with Don Rumsfeld enjoying himself. This is a toe-curlingly embarrassing photo...

"OK Guys: if you keep stumm about the stand down orders for September 11th I'll see if my good friend Tiny Blur can bring you some M&S underpants next time he crosses the pond..."

Ho ho ho

Busy, busy, busy (aka work, work, work). This could be my last pre-Dec 25th blog post, so I will make it short and sweet.

Happy Christmas/Yuletide/Festive Season!!!

Probably some RORO (Racially Or Religiously Obsessed) type will object to the above use of phrase on the grounds that I am attacking "The Christian Christmas". Well, without a pagan Yuletide festival to hijack, there'd be no "Christian Christmas".

Anyway, I hope my mind will be cleared for the New Year, and I can add some extended bon mots to the blog. In the meantime here's some pics about the world today which people might like (or not). BTW I do have a blogging new year's resolution: NOT TO GET INTO ARGUMENTS WITH PEOPLE WHO LEAVE ANONYMOUS COMMENTS. I don't even know if these people exist, and as I see this as similar to talking to voices in my head, I can't be asked. Get your own blog identity or go away!

Anyhow, pics:

& finally- Salma Hayek& Julianne Moore...

...and why not?
